Short Answer

Yes, you can use your NDIS plan for physiotherapy at PHYZFIT if your plan is plan managed or self managed. Physiotherapy sessions are funded under Capacity Building Improved Daily Living. PHYZFIT is not an NDIS registered provider, which means we can support plan managed and self managed participants across Bexley North and Marrickville, but we cannot accept NDIA agency managed plans.

Below we break down how NDIS physio actually works, what it can help with, the three ways plans are managed and how to book with our physio team at PHYZFIT.

What is NDIS physiotherapy?

NDIS physiotherapy is standard clinical physiotherapy delivered to a participant with a permanent or long term condition, funded through the National Disability Insurance Scheme rather than paid privately or claimed on Medicare. The clinical work is the same. What changes is who pays the invoice and how sessions are documented.

Physio for NDIS participants is usually funded from the Capacity Building Improved Daily Living budget in your plan. Some participants also access physio through Core Support Improved Health and Wellbeing depending on the goals in their plan.

The aim is functional. Better balance, better mobility, less pain, safer transfers, safer walking, stronger daily function and more independence at home and in the community.

How is my NDIS plan managed? (this is the key part)

There are three ways an NDIS plan can be managed. Which one you have decides where you can spend your funding.

Self Managed

You handle your own invoices and claim funds directly through the NDIS portal.

✔ You can use any provider, registered or not. PHYZFIT can support you.

Plan Managed

A plan manager handles the paperwork and pays providers on your behalf.

✔ You can use any provider, registered or not. PHYZFIT can support you.

NDIA Managed

The NDIA (Agency Managed) controls your budget directly and only pays NDIS registered providers.

✖ We are not NDIS registered, so we cannot accept NDIA managed plans.

Tap any card to see whether PHYZFIT can support that plan type.

Important: PHYZFIT is a non registered NDIS provider

This means we can only accept participants whose plans are self managed or plan managed. If your plan is NDIA (agency) managed, you would either need to switch to plan managed at your next plan review or see an NDIS registered physio provider. Not sure how your plan is managed? Log in to the myplace portal or ask your Local Area Coordinator or Support Coordinator.

What can NDIS physiotherapy actually help with?

Our physio team at PHYZFIT works with adult NDIS participants across a range of long term physical and neurological conditions. Common areas we help with include:

  • Musculoskeletal pain and injury that limits daily function — chronic lower back pain, shoulder pain, hip and knee pain, chronic tendinopathy
  • Post stroke rehabilitation — regaining strength, balance and safer walking
  • Multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and other neurological conditions — mobility, strength and falls prevention
  • Post surgical rehab after joint replacement, ACL reconstruction or spinal surgery
  • Chronic musculoskeletal conditions like severe osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis or chronic postural pain
  • Falls prevention and balance retraining for older adults with permanent conditions affecting stability
  • Strength and conditioning for participants who need supervised, progressive exercise to build capacity
  • Functional goal setting aligned to what matters in your NDIS plan, whether that is being able to shower safely, return to community walking, or work towards employment goals

Our physios (Julian De Rosa, Ari Moushis and Sam Nunan) also provide clear written reports for your plan review when needed.

How much does NDIS physiotherapy cost through PHYZFIT?

NDIS physiotherapy is charged in line with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. This is a national schedule updated by the NDIA each financial year. The current price cap for a standard NSW physiotherapy consult sits at $224.62 per hour, and this covers the session itself, session notes, any short home program written after the appointment, and short liaison with your support team.

You do not pay anything out of pocket. Either your plan manager pays us directly (plan managed), or you pay the invoice and then claim it back through the NDIS portal (self managed).
