How to Start Your Workers Compensation Claim
The Workers Compensation process in NSW is managed by SIRA (State Insurance Regulatory Authority). Here is the step by step process to get your treatment started:
Report your injury to your employer
Notify your employer as soon as possible and ensure the injury is recorded in their workplace injury register. Do this in writing so there is a clear record.
See your GP and get a Certificate of Capacity
Visit your GP and explain your work related injury. They will issue a Certificate of Capacity outlining your injury and your capacity to work. This is essential for your claim. Our team liaises closely with your GP throughout your recovery.
Lodge your claim with your employer's insurer
Your employer will advise you of their Workers Compensation insurer. Contact the insurer to lodge your claim. The insurer has 7 days to make a decision.
Obtain approval for physiotherapy
Once your claim is approved your GP will provide a referral for physiotherapy which is submitted to your insurer for approval.
